101 things to do this summer in New Jersey

While your agent at Vreeland Insurance is working hard for you this summer, we hope that you and your family are enjoying all of the natural wonders and activities that the tri-state area has to offer. While your children are out of school there’s no reason to be bored at home! Perhaps you want to bring your family into the great outdoors and go on a camping adventure. There’s no better place to do this than the Appalachian Trail, where you can enjoy the splendor of one of New Jersey’s great natural areas as it was over 200 years ago. Catch the beginning of the 42-mile New Jersey stretch of the trail at High Point State Park or join up at the Delaware Water Gap. If you’re looking for a shorter adventure in the great outdoors, the Hoboken Cove Boathouse offers visitors free kayaking fun on the Hudson River. Enjoy a surprisingly serene trip with your whole family. For some rowdier fun, take the family to Coney Island for Friday night fireworks, a ride on the Cyclone and Nathan’s hot dogs! Catch a sideshow, watch the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on July 4th or enjoy other fun summer events any day of the week. If you’re looking for some nighttime entertainment, you might want to head over to Pier A Park for Hoboken’s Movies Under the Stars. Showings are at 9pm in July and 8pm in August, and include adult-oriented films and family-friendly favorites such as “Happy Feet.” Finally, you and your family can enjoy some educational fun at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab, a free technology museum for children and adults in midtown Manhattan. Games, music, digital entertainment and more are available.
